So my gym has a pretty sweet little media room. I know, a media room at a gym? What’s that like?
Well, they have a weekly schedule posted outside of the room that tells you which movie will be playing each day of the week. It’s one movie a day and it plays on repeat. The room is mostly dark, but you can still see what you’re doing. There’s bike machines, treadmills and ellipticals.
I have been excited to use that room ever since I joined the gym – a year ago. I finally used it for the first time last night.
Why did it take me so long? Well, partly because they don’t always play a movie that I really feel like watching. Also partly because I don’t just do cardio during my workout. I also use weights and machines. And often, I forget about the media room since it’s kind of in the back of the gym. I usually remember it when I’m going to do weights and by then my cardio is done.
But when I went to the gym earlier this week, I saw that Thursday was the movie Divergent. I knew at that moment that it would be the first time I used that room.
I did not want to go to the gym yesterday. One side of me tried so hard to give the other side a good reason to not bother. It’s so cold (like 18 degrees!)! I have things to do, things to bake. I have to walk the dogs (we are dog sitting my brother’s dog so there’s 2 of them right now). So many good reasons to drive right on by it on my way home. I literally drive RIGHT by it.
But I didn’t. I went. I needed to get more Fitbit steps. Then I got there and remembered Divergent! And I was so glad I didn’t drive past! I own the movie, but whatever.
I was pretty sore from my workout on Wednesday with lots of weight, so I planned on just doing cardio. So the cardio media room was just perfect for last night. And I walked into the room right around the part that starts to get interesting (capture the flag) and left when it started being less about Tris and Four and more about other things (the serum and taking down Abnegation).
Perfect. Just me, a treadmill and Four. Plus, like 6 or 7 other people. Bring it.
Of course then I came home and did another round of brownie baking and taste testing (recipe soon!) and the workout was a wash, but it’s gotta be done! Taste testing is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
My small group was more than happy to be the taste testers of these chocolate cookie sandwiches. They were a big hit, but of course when is chocolate and peanut butter not a hit? I’ve had a few people ask when this recipe would finally be up on the blog so they could make them, so here it finally is.
The cookies are soft and chewy, with the help of a dry pudding mix. The chopped mini Reese’s are totally necessary, obviously. And the best way to make a peanut butter icing is with cream cheese. No joke, the icing was most peoples’ favorite part. Cream cheese + peanut butter = winning.
You know what else equals winning? Cookies + icing. They are just meant to be. Do it!!

Enjoy!
Recipe sounds yummy? Think Reese’s pb chips would work in place of pb cups? Thx!
Yes, that should be fine.
I love these cookies, but mine went flat is it because I flattened it too much?? How can I get fat cookies like yours??
7-8 minutes cooking time is not enough. cookies were not baked thru and therefore heavy. Icing was fine. not a keeper
What should I do if the dough is still sticky
I would happily run on a treadmill while watching Four, er, Divergent 😉
These cookie sandwiches look delicious! Add a glass of milk and my new movie obsession (Divergent *cough*) and I’ll be good for a few hours!
Way to be dedicated! That sounds like a fun way to do exercises!
I’ve been lazy with my workouts lately because of the cold weather but a media room would totally motivate me more. Love these cookie sandwiches! Chocolate and peanut butter is the ultimate combo! They look incredible!
Congrats on making it to the gym!! It would be very hard for me to actually leave the house (in this freaking cold weather) and go to the gym. We have a treadmill at home that I run on regularly so I have no excuses. . I would gladly run a few miles for one of these peanut butter cookie sandwiches! I’m a peanut-butter-a-holic! I LOVED Divergent! you need to watch the entire movie!!
I’m so jealous you have a treadmill at home! I want one! I actually have seen Divergent, several times, and own it. 🙂 But I’ll never turn down the chance to watch it while working out – great distraction! 🙂
I too have to visit the gym to counteract the taste testing! The recipe looks great. Chocolate plus peanut butter is always a win.
My gym in Cleveland had a media room that I think I used twice…once because they were playing How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and once because there were no other free treadmills! I love these cookie sandwiches. My favorite flavor combo ever. Hands down. PB & Chocolate FTW!
All my favorites in an awesome cookie!!! And that filling…where is the bowl and the spoon? Love these!
Thanks Jocelyn!
If I could find a gym with a media room I would probably work out more. And these cookies just made my day! I love anything with chocolate and peanut butter!
Can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate cookies stuffed with more peanut butter! These sound amazing!
I’m definitely doing this…what cocoa powder you use? Thanks
I use Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa.
A MEDIA ROOM?! Why does my gym not have that! I might actually do cardio…because I do zero now…. Haha!
And chocolate and peanut butter anything is my life…so these babies? Just ship them to my face please! Pinned!
I know, right! It’s a nice distraction from the cardio. Thanks Taylor!
These make me so happy! I love peanut butter frosting on anything, but sandwiched between PB cup cookies is the best.
I would so be at movie time at the gym! I love the gyms that do that. They’re awesome.
Thanks Mir!
