This Berry Fruit Salsa is made with strawberries, blueberries and apples! It has amazing flavor, makes a wonderful appetizer or snack and is naturally red, white and blue – perfect for July 4th!

Often a July 4th celebration is centered around food. I have so many fun dessert ideas for the fourth of July so today I’m excited to share an appetizer. Lucky for us, it also happens to be sweet! Also lucky for us – the sweetness comes from fruit, so it’s a nearly guiltless pleasure!

Berry Fruit Salsa Ingredients

This salsa is also super easy to make and FULL of flavor! In addition to the fruit, it’s got many of the flavors you’d normal find in salsa:

  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Cilantro
  • Red Onion
  • Jalapenos
  • Lime Juice
  • Salt

It’s hard to go wrong when you combine cilantro, jalapenos, onion and lime juice – yum! And when you combine those flavors with the fruit, it’s truly an amazing combination. A little sweet with a little spicy! It was hard to stop eating it!

And it couldn’t be easier to make – literally chop everything up and combine it and you’re ready to go. I do recommend making it shortly before serving. You could definitely put it together in the morning and serve it in the afternoon, but naturally the apples brown with time and the fruit will soften overall as it sits, so you don’t want to make it too far ahead. No problem though – since it’s so easy to make anyways.

Perfect July 4th Appetizer

If you’re looking for a great appetizer for July 4th – or really during anytime in the summer – this is it! It’s delicious and full of flavor. Plus it’s nice and light so you don’t have to feel guilty about eating most of it yourself, LOL. There’s nothing better than food that’s easy to make, looks great and TASTES even better!

Description

This Berry Fruit Salsa is made with strawberries, blueberries and apples! It has amazing flavor, makes a wonderful appetizer or snack and is naturally red, white and blue – perfect for July 4th!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (145g) blueberries
  • 1 1/4 cups (181g) strawberries
  • 1 cup (118g) diced apple (I used Fuji apples)
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped red onio
  • 1 tbsp chopped jalapeños, optional
  • 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine blueberries, strawberries, apples, cilantro, red onion, jalapenos and lime juice in a medium sized bowl and gently stir to combine. Add salt, to taste.
  2. Salsa can be served immediately or you can let it sit for about 20 minutes. It’s best served the day it’s made. The apples will take on color over time as they sit. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

While the apples take on some color and don’t stay totally white, I truly love their taste in this salsa. You could use jicama for of a more white color, but it does taste like having a little bit of vegetable in your fruit salsa. It’s a similar texture, but a little more firm and less sweet. Either will work.

This looks so good and pretty too. I’m making this for sure. I’m giving it a 5 star without making it first just because of the ingredient list.
