This Pumpkin Trifle Dessert is made with smooth pumpkin-infused cream cheese filling, angel food cake, and whipped cream layered in individual trifle glasses. They’re super light, festive, and easy to make!

Why You’ll Love This Pumpkin Trifle Dessert

  • Quick and easy. All you need to do is combine the cream cheese mixture ingredients then layer it with angel food cake and Cool Whip. It truly takes just a few minutes!
  • Light and pumpkin-y. This dessert is so wonderfully light, delicious, and pumpkin-y! Perfect for after a big meal where you want a tasty pumpkin treat – but not something too heavy that you’ll burst at the seams. Like Thanksgiving, perhaps? 🙂
  • No baking required. There is no baking or cooking of any kind involved in this recipe. I love preparing it for gatherings where I’m already cooking and baking lots since it doesn’t take up any precious oven space.

Recipe Ingredients

This pumpkin trifle dessert is made with just 6 ingredients. Scroll down to the recipe card below for measurements.

  • Cream cheese – Be sure to use brick cream cheese, not the kind in the container.
  • Sugar – Sweetens the cheesecake mixture.
  • Pumpkin puree – You’ll only need part of a can of puree so be sure to save the rest for your other favorite pumpkin desserts.
  • Pumpkin pie spice – Adds even more pumpkin flavor to the trifle dessert.
  • Cool Whip – You can also use homemade whipped cream.
  • Angel food cake – I like to use my homemade angel food cake, though you can absolutely buy one from the store. Note that you’ll only need about half of one for this pumpkin trifle recipe.

Tips & Variations

  • Use room-temperature cream cheese. The cream cheese should be at room temperature before you begin this recipe for easier mixing. Cold cream cheese is harder to mix and will be quite lumpy.
  • Swap out the angel food cake. You could easily use pound cake in place of the angel food cake or even something like gingersnap cookies or Biscoff.
  • Add a topping. Try drizzling this pumpkin trifle with some caramel sauce just before serving or adding some pecans on top for extra crunch.
  • Chill before serving. I like to make pumpkin trifle a few hours in advance so that the flavors really have time to meld.

How To Store Pumpkin Trifles

This pumpkin trifle dessert is best enjoyed the day it is made. However, you can keep it covered in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just keep in mind that the cake will soften the longer it’s in the fridge.

I am going to make this for a dessert party. Instead of individual trifles,
can I make in large trifle bowl? How many servings does your recipe
make? Also looking at your gingerbread cheesecake trifle and caramel
macchiato tiramisu trifle. Same question. My trifle bowl is quite large.
Will make one for Xmas Eve and one for New Years Day.

Yes, you could make it in a large trifle bowl. I’d probably double everything and model it a little bit after this trifle, but you’ll be using angel food cake instead of the brownies and the pumpkin filling instead of the Oreo and no chocolate sauce.

The other two trifles you mentioned are excellent as well. I’m a big fan of both. The caramel macchiato tiramisu one is fairly unique and a longtime favorite of mine. They are all made in the same trifle bowl so they should all make about 10 to 12 servings, depending on how big the servings are.

I just realized that when I made your Oreo cookie cheesecake this week for my party that I left out the half cup of sugar!!!!! Crazy that everyone ate it anyway and said it was delicious! Now that is what I call a great recipe! A baker I will never be! You have convinced me to try ALDI. You had me at the wine comment! Can’t wait to check it out!!

Umm yes. Every time I walk by the butter and cream cheese, I let out a big sigh. Then I go home and make pumpkin trifles and all is better in the world.

These are adorable!!! We used to shop at Aldi in Cleveland but I haven’t been to one since we moved back to Atlanta! Must remedy! My husband and I love their chocolate covered marzipan logs. Mmmmm. Gorgeous pictures too! Pinned!

I’ve never heard of ALDI before. I wonder if we have any near me.. I love these little trifiles and how easy they are!

  9. Tania@My+Kitchen+stories

+I am used to the way Aldi works now and I am happy to have no frills so that I get much cheaper groceries. I don’t need a million digfferent things to choose from and that makes shopping quicker too!
