These soft and chewy Double Mint Chocolate Cookies are FULL of Andes mints and mint Oreo pieces. They are so perfectly minty and chocolaty, it’s hard to not eat the entire batch right out of the oven!
If you like these mint chocolate cookies you should also try my Peppermint Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies or these Chocolate M&M Cookies!
The cookie itself is soft and chewy – my favorite! This a very similar recipe to the one used for my Triple Chocolate Cookie Cake. These cookies have mint though and it’s a serious party in your mouth.
I mean look at that picture below! All that deliciously melty mint chocolate – yum! Especially when eaten warm, the cookies just melt in your mouth. Seriously moan-worthy.
I made my cookies pretty big. I like big cookies. That way I get more. But you could totally make them smaller.
I’m actually a little torn on whether it’s better to have larger or smaller cookies. Here’s my thinking on that – if I make smaller cookies, I inevitably eat at least 2 at a time. One small cookie just isn’t enough. Then I feel like a fatty because I ate two cookies when I told myself I’d only eat one.
That seriously never happens.
But with bigger cookies, they’re bigger so you’re more likely to eat just one, right? Then, you feel less guilty because you only ate one like you said you would.
Yea I know. Who am I kidding? No matter what size they are I eat them until they’re gone. It’s a problem. But how can I not? Do you see that soft chocolaty center?
On another note, I feel like I’ve been kind of absent recently. I’ve been missing out on a lot of my normal link parties, haven’t been keeping up with my favorite bloggers and what they’re up to and I don’t feel like I’ve been as quick to respond to comments and questions. I hate that and it’s been bugging me, but know that there is a reason that I’ll hopefully be able to share next week. It’s been a bit of a crazy couple weeks but I think I’m finally getting it back together. And it’s definitely something I want to talk about, so more on that later.
Now go make cookies!

- 3/4 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup andes mints, chopped

Notes
The colder the cookie dough, the less it will spread during baking. If your dough is pretty cold and you want larger cookies, I suggest flattening them out a bit before baking.

Hi I want to make these they look delicious. I have a question though. It says cocoa but doesn’t specify. Is it black cocoa or Dutch Processed cocoa by chance??
You could use regular unsweetened or Dutch processed cocoa powder.
Do u have any video related to this cookie?
I don’t, I’m sorry!
I made these this weekend and they turned out amazing! Great recipe!
Yay! So glad you enjoyed them! 🙂
I just made these and they’re so so good!!!!!
No salt needed?
I used salted butter. If you use unsalted you’d probably want to add about 1/4 tsp of salt.
Would it be ok to freeze the dough before baking tomorrow?
I’m sure it’d be fine.
I truly love your site. I am inspired by your creativity and passion. I love your stories with each recipe, an update of you and your life. It’s nice to see someone that is real, passionate, and loving.
I am about to make this recipe, with a little twist for the ingredients i have pin hand. I am using double stuffed Oreos, Andes mints, and nestle dark chocolate and mint chips. These will make excellent Christmas cookies tomorrow. 🙂 can’t wait to try them!
Keep the recipes coming!!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy everything! I hope you enjoyed the cookies!
I found your site after seeing your gorgeous New York Crumb Cake on Pinterest. You have a lovely blog and I made my first recipe tonight from your recipe list, which is these lovely double chocolate cookies. I didn’t include any add-ins, just chocolate chunks and they baked up to be a really pretty cookie. I chilled for 20 mins and pressed the scoops of dough down on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. This is now my go-to double chocolate chip cookie recipe. Thank you very much!
Mint oreos are sold here in singapore ! 🙁
These cookies would still be delicious without the Mint Oreos. And if you want more mint flavor, you could add a teaspoon of mint extract to the cookie dough.
I just made these and the cookies came out super flat. They have been refrigerated for hours. Any ideas what went wrong?
Hi Carmen, it’s hard to say without having been there, but even though they’d been refrigerated, was the dough cold when you baked them or closer to room temperature? The colder the dough is when it goes into the oven, the less it spreads.
Made these today and they are unbelievably delicious! This recipe is definitely a keeper!
Thank you, Susan! I’m so glad you enjoyed them! 🙂
Mint and chocolate are one of my very favorite combos! Love these cookies! Thanks for linking up to What’s Cookin’ Wednesday!
Thanks Karly! Thanks for the party!
