These Peeps in a Blanket Brownies are a fun and easy Easter brownie recipe! Chewy chocolate brownies are topped with cute bunny peeps, dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles!

If you haven’t picked up on it already, these brownies are a fun play on “pigs in a blanket”. Totally silly, but also really fun in this dessert version. What’s not to love about the combination of brownies and marshmallows? Dip them in chocolate together and you’ve got a fantastic treat. The fact that the marshmallow is a peep and it has spring-y sprinkles on it means they are Easter-ready!

This is actually an older recipe that’s getting a facelift today. Not much has really changed, except that the photos are a little nicer and the “blanket” is now white chocolate instead of regular chocolate. You could definitely use either, I just thought the white color was a little more Spring-like.

Why You’ll Love These Easter Brownies

  • Easy to make: These brownies are a playful twist on the classic “pigs in a blanket,” featuring bunny Peeps nestled on top of rich, fudgy brownies. They’re perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to your Easter celebrations.
  • Kids love them: These are also the kid of thing you could totally make with kids. Our boys love peeps and chocolate, so these are a fun alternative to your traditional sugar cookie. Plus they LOVE adding sprinkles to things.
  • So many ways to decorate: While the recipe suggests using white chocolate for a spring-like appearance, you can easily customize the “blanket” with milk or dark chocolate and choose sprinkles that match your theme or personal preference.
  • Can be made ahead: These treats can be prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days, making them a convenient option for busy holiday schedules.
  • Everyone loves them: The combination of moist, chewy brownies, sweet marshmallow Peeps, and a crisp chocolate shell creates a delicious treat that’s sure to be a hit with everyone.

What You’ll Need

These brownies use pretty typical ingredients. As long as you grab some Peeps, melting chocolate and your favorite sprinkles, you should have most other things on hand. Here’s a quick look at what goes into this Easter brownies recipe. Scroll down to the recipe card for a printable list.

  • Vegetable oil: Makes the brownies extra moist.
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Eggs: Large eggs are needed.
  • All Purpose Flour: Not self rising flour. Use a food scale or the spoon and level method to make sure you get an accurate flour measurement.
  • Cocoa powder: I use natural unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Baking powder: For rise and texture.
  • Salt: For flavor. Be sure not to leave it out.
  • Peeps: I used Bunnies, but you could also try other shapes.
  • Chocolate Melting Wafers: I used Ghirardelli brand white chocolate wafers, but feel free to use regular chocolate or any other brand you have available.
  • Sprinkles: Use your favorite spring sprinkles.

Helpful Tips

  • Choose the Right Chocolate: Opt for high-quality melting wafers or baking chocolate for dipping. They melt smoothly and provide a glossy finish, enhancing both the appearance and taste of your brownies.
  • Temperature Matters: Allow the brownies to cool completely before attaching the Peeps and dipping them in chocolate. This prevents melting or shifting during the dipping process.
  • Cut Correct Size: Before slicing your brownies, consider setting the Peeps on top to make sure you’re cutting them the right size and not too small.
  • Deep Container for Dipping: To make it easier to dip the brownies into chocolate, use a deep bowl or a cup. You can shake the excess off, or just run the bottom of the brownie along the top edge of the cup/bowl, which is a little more gentle.
  • Sprinkles: Add the sprinkles immediately after dipping in chocolate, so that it doesn’t dry before you add them.
  • Secure the Peeps: To ensure the Peeps stay firmly attached, press them gently onto the brownie surface while the melted chocolate is still tacky, then let them set before proceeding to dip the entire assembly.

How to Store Easter Brownies

For best results, let the brownies and chocolate fully set before storing to avoid condensation. Keep them in a loosely covered container at room temperature (airtight storage can trap moisture and affect the chocolate’s texture). If stacking, place parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking. Avoid refrigerating, as it can cause the chocolate to bloom and make the Peeps chewier. Properly stored, these brownies will stay fresh for 3-4 days.

Description

These Peeps in a Blanket brownies are a festive Easter dessert recipe! Chewy chocolate brownies are topped with cute bunny peeps, dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (180ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups (310g) sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup (98g) all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup plus 2 1/2 tbsp (59g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp plus 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 810 Bunny Peeps
  • 1012 oz Ghirardelli melting wafers (or similar baking/melting chocolate)
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×9 square baking pan and line it with parchment paper that sticks up above the edges. You’ll use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan later.
  2. Add the oil, sugar and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl and whisk together to combine. Add the eggs and whisk together until well combined.
  3. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium sized bowl, then add to the wet ingredients. Whisk together until just well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.
  5. Allow brownies to cool completely, then remove them from the pan using the parchment paper. Cut the brownies into rectangles that will fit the Peeps. I cut them down the middle to cut it in half, then cut eat half into rectangles. You should get 8-10 brownies.
  6. Place melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and melt according to package directions. Use a knife or offset spatula to spread a little chocolate on the back of each peep and stick them to the brownies. Allow the chocolate to dry.
  7. Dip the brownies, one at a time, into the melted chocolate. Gently shake or brush off the excess chocolate. Place brownies onto parchment paper and add sprinkles. Allow to dry completely.
  8. Store brownies in an airtight container. They are best eaten within 3-4 days.

These brownies are by far the best homemade brownies I’ve ever made… and I have tried a ton of delicious recipes. This will be saved and repeated probably once a week since my sweet tooth has a particular love for brownies. I am not a huge Peep person, but these made the cutest treats for all the littles at Easter. AND… I took a bite of one with a Peep… Oh my word it was good! I don’t know if you’ve seen the trend on social media of the videos that are like: “Why? How come? How dare you?” I have felt like making a video like that in response to these dang brownies because I honestly am like, “Why are they so irresistible? How come my pants are tighter now?” Anyways, thank you for sharing this recipe AKA my favorite brownie.

I have made these several times. The brownie is amazing. I add toasted chopped hazelnuts. And for the Peeps I stick them on with melted dark chocolate. I skip the blanket and instead use the chocolate to stick on little sugar flowers on to the Peeps. Adorable and delicious!

These are so cute! I wish we had peeps in Australia. I’ll have to keep my eye out for something similar! 🙂

Bunny Peeps wrapped in Brownie Blankets – – WHAT! I mean — YUM! This madness will be happening in my family’s Easter Basket! I believe my kids will go crazy for these.
As for the car wash, ditto. My fire engine red celica was always sparkling inside and out. Now I am thrilled when my middle schoolers take their garbage out of my car. As long as your family is healthy and well-mannered, I’d say you are doing it just right.
    PS: Keep the peeps coming!

Okay, first of all, I’ve never washed my car. Now I feel like I’ve missed a step somewhere. I just love sitting in carwashes (weird but true). Maybe I’ll try it your way!
These are just too cute. They’re all happy and tucked in! Great idea!
